Saving articles

You can save web articles to your Inboxt library in a few different ways, depending on the device you’re using.

Items move through three states after being added:

  • Saving / processing: the item has been added and is being processed. This usually takes a few seconds, but may take longer for larger or more complex pages.
  • Failed: parsing failed after multiple attempts. The item is marked as failed with a possible reason.
  • Saved: the article was successfully processed and is ready to read.

Save from your library

  1. Click the Add link button in the top-right corner.
  2. Enter the URL of the article you want to save.
  3. Click Save.
  4. The article appears in your library immediately and updates once processing completes.

This method works on all devices.

On desktop, the browser extension is the most reliable way to save articles.

  1. Install the Inboxt browser extension and configure it for your instance.
  2. Open the article you want to save in your browser.
  3. Click the Inboxt extension icon in the toolbar or extensions menu.
  4. The article is added to your library and processed in the background.

Using the extension allows Inboxt to receive the page’s content directly from your browser, which improves reliability on dynamic or complex websites.

Mobile and Progressive Web App

Inboxt works well on mobile as a Progressive Web App. See Installation for how to add it to your home screen.

In addition to adding links manually, you can save articles using your browser’s share feature.

Save via share menu (mobile)

  1. Open the article you want to save in your mobile browser.
  2. Tap the browser’s Share button.
  3. Select Inboxt from the list of available apps.
  4. Inboxt opens and adds the shared page to your library for processing.

This is often the quickest way to save articles while browsing on mobile.

Reading saved articles

Once processing completes, saved articles open in a distraction-free reader view where you can adjust reading settings and add highlights.
